The Group Financial Accountant is responsible for delivering high-quality group-level financial accounting, controls, and statutory support across the organisation. The role plays a key part in month-end close, balance sheet integrity, technical accounting, and supporting budgeting, forecasting, and Board/ELT reporting through accurate and timely financial information.

This role partners closely with FP&A, operational finance teams, and external auditors to ensure strong governance, compliance, and continuous improvement of financial processes.

Key Accountabilities

Financial Accounting & Close

  • Lead and execute group month-end and year-end close activities, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and provisions
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely resolution of reconciling items
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and delegated authorities

Group Reporting & Controls

  • Support preparation of group financial statements and statutory reporting requirements
  • Assist with audit deliverables, including external audit and internal reviews
  • Strengthen financial controls, documentation, and evidence to support audit outcomes
  • Identify control gaps and recommend practical improvements

You will have:

  • CA/CPA qualification (or near completion) with a strong grounding in financial accounting principles and statutory reporting
  • 5+ years’ experience in financial accounting, group reporting or audit, ideally within a complex, multi-entity organisation
  • Demonstrated experience preparing month-end and year-end close, including journals, reconciliations and variance analysis
  • Strong understanding of AASB/IFRS, including consolidation principles, intercompany eliminations and technical accounting matters
  • Proven capability in preparing or supporting group consolidated financial statements and audit deliverables
  • Experience working with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Dynamics) and advanced Excel skills; exposure to consolidation tools is highly regarded
  • Ability to partner effectively with FP&A, Tax, Treasury and operational finance teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced reporting environment
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with confidence explaining financial outcomes to non-finance stakeholders
  • A proactive, improvement-focused mindset, with experience identifying and implementing process improvements and controls
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing positively within a collaborative group finance team
